The focus of cagrilintide is not monotherapy but in combination with semaglutide. Amylin analogs (cagrilintide) are being developed in a fixed-dose combination with the GLP-1 analog semaglutide for the treatment of obesity. CagriSema is a combination of 2.4 mg cagrilintide and 2.8 mg semaglutide.

The results of a phase 2 randomized controlled trial showed that after 32 weeks of treatment with CagriSema, 2.4 mg cagrilintide, and 2.8 mg semaglutide, the average HbA1c of patients with diabetes and obesity decreased by 2.2, 0.9, and 1.8 percentage points, respectively; the average body weight decreased by 15.6%, 8.1%, and 5.1%, respectively.
