Thymopentin consists of 5 amino acids: arginine, lysine, aspartic acid, valine and tyrosine. Thymogenin II is a single peptide compound isolated from thymic hormone. It is composed of 49 amino acids, and the peptide chain fragment composed of 5 amino acids has all the same physiological functions as thymogenin II. Therefore, this pentapeptide fragment is called thymopentin (TP-5)

Thymopentin has the same function of regulating the immune system as thymosin. It can induce the differentiation and maturation of pre-T lymphocytes and regulate the immune activity of mature T lymphocytes. This drug can regulate a variety of immune disorders, such as congenital absence of thymus, thymectomy, senile thymic atrophic dysfunction, infection, tumor and low immune function caused by the proportion and functional changes of different T lymphocyte subsets in autoimmune diseases.
