Nonaeptide-1, also known as whitening peptide, is a nine amino acid whitening peptide. It is mainly used for whitening, brightening and freckle removing. Competitive blocking of the entrance of receptor and various factors signal on melanoblasts weakens the activity of melanoblasts and reduces the production of melanin. As a biomimetic peptide, octreotide-1 has a good match with MC1 receptor, so it can be used as an antagonist of melanocyte stimulating hormone and competitively bind with MC1 receptor. Therefore, it can prevent the melanin production caused by the further activation of l-arginase.
